Doh! I hate when I do that. Thanks for noticing the rare "change my mind in between subject & body" syndrome. I have fixed.

    Default I need a miracle!

I'm trying to do Tioga Pass on May 18th. Please, please, please!!! I know it's looking unlikely but I'm hoping for the best!!!

    Hey Ryan,

Given past history and the storm about to hit this weekend (and potentially dump 12+ inches of snow on the pass), a miracle will indeed be needed for ya. Hopefully this is the last of the major storms as well.

I've discovered that for my fishing trip that I not only need the pass open, but also Saddlebag Lake itself (or at least the road) needs to be open. This can occur anywhere from 20 - 45 days after the pass opens. We'll be cutting it close this year for sure and so probably need a backup plan.

    Default A foot.

    2nd May.

12" of fresh snow overnight with still the chance of a few more showers around.

  5. Default June 2nd 0800

    Hi Everyone!
I am new to this forum and have been a long time adventurer of these amazing roads. I am going to have to guess June 2nd @ 8am, since this is when my roommate and I hope to ride the pass for his first trip into Yosemite! Hopefully the pass will be open by then.

Thanks for the fun post and happy traveling!

    Default Here goes !

Weather looks good up there at the moment and the outlook is bright and warm so I guess that extra snow will be melting off quick.
I reckon glc is close but I'm sticking with 27th May as for some reason that number has got lodged in my head !

    So my guess = 27th May - 12 noon

  8. Default May 23rd 8:00am

I think I may have missed the boat according to the rules, but my guess is May 23rd, 8:00am. If I can't have that then, I'll guess May 25th, 8:00am.

After coming up with a date in my head, [the 27th] I decided to check what day it was as I am not sure whether they work Sunday's. It was a Weds and then that got me thinking some more. Quite often on a big project when the end is in sight you give a big push to get it finished by the end of the week and move on, so I thought I would put this theory to the test and checked the last few years to see the days it was opened on. [I know, I need to get out more ! ] It might be coincidence but it was something like over the last 6 [or 7] years, 5 [or 6] have been on a Fri or Sat. I then, like you discovered it was to late to choose the 23rd and I felt the 29th was to late.

So what I am trying to say is, "Good luck with the 25th" Lol !

Stupid me forgot to post last Friday. I was ready then, but I had Mother's Day on the mind for the wife. :) Didn't want to miss that!

Yeah, it'll most likely be Friday or Saturday. My sources tell me the entire road is plowed now, but just not open to the public (naturally). Win or lose, I just care that the lake (and corresponding back country) is open for us! :)
