I thought at first it could be the Colorado River at Rainbow Bridge (on a very low water day), but now I am guessing.... that you were standing near the bridge over the Colorado River at Hite Crossing in Utah?

(It's funny, I've seen this view....I think).

Some people will know where this is instantly.... Are you one of them?

Darn! I'm much too late, but I would've known instantly. I have the same exact picture in my personal archives! I went to Bryce on my very first long solo roadtrip...ah, the good ol' days!:)
@Mark: The roller coaster seems familiar...I believe I've seen this on my way to Bagdad Café in Newberry Springs...it's somewhere in the Mojave but I couldn't point out the exact location.
I think the coaster is part of Buffalo Bill's Casino in Primm Nevada.
Seeing no one is getting the last photo I posted, here is another whilst we wait for someone who can guess it's location!
Update February 2024 (RTA): Buffalo Bill's coaster is no longer operating.

@UKCraig, Yep, that's the coaster at Primm, NV -- for a brief while it was the tallest coaster in the world.
You are going to have to give us a hint about the river photo.... Methinks.
Mark
Name of the building and location?

Wow - I have no idea about that building but it's an impressive looking place!
The river photo... guess it's driving everyone round the Bend. Well, I'm not gonna give any clues. Not until we make it to a fifth Page at least.
@UkCraig: a wild guess : Grand Staircase Escalante?? I am clueless about the location of that KFC ad though.
@Mark: I'm pretty sure I saw that building in Pittsburgh, but I don't know its name
edit: the building is named The City in the Sky
{Mark: Yes, it is! Also known as the PPG building in downtown Pittsburgh).
