If you think you are going to get from Philly to Chicago in 12 hours, it ain't gonna happen. That's 780 miles. That's going to be 14 hours PLUS whatever it takes you to get out of Philly and what it takes you to get INTO Chicago with MINIMAL stops if you value your driver's license.

You need to recalculate all your times accordingly. Mapping programs do not take reality into account.

I'll also say that by assuming you'll have these long "mundane" stretches and listing all of the things that you'll have to distract yourselves from the road, you're going to miss out on many of the exact things that make a roadtrip great.

Having said that, some people just have to put their hand in a fire before they learn that you can get burned. We wish you the best, and hopefully, you don't take too many risks with your safety and the safety of others with whom you will be sharing the road.

You make a good point regarding the "mundane stretches". Thanks for the tips and your help, we'll be sure to update you when we return.

Will do, thanks! Google has been pretty reliable thus far in other trips regarding time, I don't know that I've ever really been late with regard to the times they've given me. Do you really think the time will differ by that much? I drive barely above the speed limit as well, +5/10mph tops.
