May Road Trip from MA to Orlando and back via Coast?
Planning our first major road trip down i-95 from Southeastern Massachusetts down to Orlando, Florida and then on the way back we wanted to take a more scenic, hopefully coastal route, via the outer banks and bay areas of the Cheasepeake. Any suggestions?

Coastal route
The ride up through the Chesapeake is really a nice one - especially the bridge/tunnel - we were going across it as the sun came up, and there was no traffic. VA's Eastern Shore is quite pretty, and very flat. It's two lane along there, right next to an old railroad track for a long distance. It reminds me more of Iowa than Virginia.
Hopefully OBX will have its roads up to snuff by the time you get there. I know the hurricane did quite a lot of damage, but I'm not privy to what exactly got ruined. I know a new inlet was created (again). There is some awesome food out there, though.
I tend to avoid I-95 like the plague if I can help it, but seeing as how it goes near where you live it is the best option. There is a book suggestion on this site about a guidebook to I-95. Worth a look!

Worth a stop...
Savannah, GA is about five hours north of Orlando and right off of 95 and is a must see city.(Charleston, SC is another great city, but it's not as close to 95 as Savannah). If you do hit Charleston, you can follow Highway 17 up the coast through Myrtle Beach. Depends on how much time you have.
I don't know a whole lot about the Chesapeake Bay area.
