Default Sacramento, CA to Grand Canyon (south) to Sadona

My wife and I are planning an RV (own) trip this May to see the Grand Canyon (south rim) and Sedona. We have a little over a week for the trip. We are looking for sugestions as too a good route to see as much as possible along the way. This is our first big road trip in the RV. We aren't sure as too what there is too see along the way or how long of a stay we would need at the Grand Canyon and Sedona to take it in. Any suggestions or input would be greatly appreciated.

Default How little over a week ?

    Hello and welcome to R.T.A.

I am presuming it's a return trip so it would be best to allow a couple of days either way to travel and I would recommend a couple of nights at the Grand canyon so it doesn't leave you a lot of free time to head for Sedona and red rock country. I would camp in the Mather campground in the NP.

As you are going in May there is a strong possibility the Tioga pass will not yet be open in which case you would be limited to coming down 99 and possibly stopping half way, poss around Bakersfield/ Lake Isabella, Yosemite valley and Sequoia are possible detours, or heading across to South Lake Tahoe and heading down the 395 and a possible detour to Death Valley. Maybe one route down and one back up but you won't have to much free time.
