  1. Default San Fran to LA in MARCH!

    Hi there,

I wondered whether someone could give me some advice? Heading to Calfornia for two weeks, never been to the states before so a whole new experience. Fly out from England on the 14th March to San Francisco, booked to stay there until the 17th March and then hiring a car and making way down to LA where we fly back to England on 28th March.

We definitly want to do a bit of Route 1, Las Vegas, Monument Valley, Grand Caynon and I've heard San Diego is well worth the visit before having a couple of days in LA. But we would also like to go to Yosemite....but is it really bad weather??? Thought about skiing for a couple of days at Mammoth Lakes but then that probably means loads of different clothes that we'll have to pack and also what with the pound against the dollar being so bad probably really expensive! Really just after some advice on what's best to do? Is there other national parks or sites well worth seeing which won't be resticted by weather?

March is quite an odd time to travel so Spring road trip advice and guidance on the best places to see in two weeks would be most appreciated?

Thanks from a very excited Brit looking forward to the road trip of a life time!

    Default Sounds like fun...

    Hi Lydia,

It sounds like you have quite a trip in store for you. Unfortunately, I cant be very helpful in suggestions, as I will be making my first trip in April.

However, Jude's thread on her trip may be very helpful, as there has been many suggestions and discussion. You may have already read it, but if not, it may be be a good resource.

    Good luck!

Default You won't be dissapointed !

It's a fantastic area to explore.

    Hello and welcome to R.T.A.

Yosemite valley will be accessible but you will not be able to cross the Sierra's on the 120 [Tioga pass] at this time of year as it will still be closed due to snow, so that would be a big detour to get to Mammoth lakes.

Your trip is otherwise doable and a very popular area to explore. Death valley is worth a visit on the way to Vegas,it's a fascinating landscape that you won't get to see our side of the pond.

You will need to pack layered clothing as the temps can vary quite a bit during night and day and at different locations.

Have a good search of the forums and planning pages and when you have more questions ask away !
