    Default Some Final Thoughts

I'll post pictures in a few days. I've got to get the stupid throwaway cameras developed and put onto CD, though. I think I know what my birthday present to myself will be this year. Stupid Camera.

High Point = Crazy Horse - I can't describe the peace and serenity that place
    gave me.

Low Point = Colorado - I'm really going to have to give that state another
shot some day. I loved Mesa Verde when I was there a few years ago. I'm not really sure what happened this year. Oh well.

Best Food = Toss up between the Mexican Restaurants I ate at in Raton, New Mexico and Eastland, Texas. Both were excellent.

Worst Food = Taco Bell in Arkansas - Fourth of July and none of the family run places were open, just fast food.

Best Side of Road Attraction = Albert the Bull - mainly because he was anatomically correct - yes I was the crazy
lady taking pictures of the bull's testicles on the side of the road in Iowa. It just really cracked me up for some reason - lack of sleep,
    etc.

Worst Side of Road Attraction(s) = Jackeloupe in Douglas, Wyoming and the Jack Rabbit in Odessa, Texas. Only
because I forgot to go and look for them.

Total Miles of Trip = 4,100

Purchases = Many shot glasses and postcards and lots of random things for Intrepid Roadtrip Partner's new apartment. Let's just say that I had a blast buying stuff for her in Roswell.

Weirdest Sight = How green West Texas was. There were black-eyed Susans as tall as me growing on the sides of the road.

Best Sight = Toss up between Crazy Horse and seeing my first Shreveport Signs when I was coming home.

Worst Sight = "Road Construction Ahead" - blech and all the flooding in Missouri

Default Thanks for the LIW intell..

It's great to hear what Laura spots are worth seeing and which aren't.

Sounds like you had a great trip. You write a great trip report.

Two big disappointments in the trip we're planning to take in July: I just couldn't work in one of the Laura Ingalls Wilder homes, nor could I fit in a chance for my kids to see the Redwoods.

You just can't fit everything into one trip.

If you are ever near Pepin, Wisconsin they have a Laura Ingalls Wilder museum.
We were riding back from Red Wing, Minnesota along the Wisconsin side of the
Mississippi River and came across this.
