Default My USA Road Trip Tale

First-time poster here, so hope this is in the right place. Thought I'd share my 2008 USA Road Trip experience!

Earlier this year I was busy planning my wedding to my lovely fiancee, when she was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her brave battle she passed away just three weeks before our big day.

She always knew it was my big dream to drive coast to coast across the USA, and she made me promise her that I would go and do it as soon as I could. So that's exactly what I did.

I dragged my friend into the mix, and together we set about planning our adventure, with our drive starting in Florida, and ending in California, taking one month to complete, and driving a rather excellent Ford Mustang the full 6,000 miles.

Along the way, we updated a regular blog mainly for friends and family to follow our journey across country.

Having come across this great little forum though, I though I'd open it to others to share in our experiences, in the hope that others too can get ideas and tips on where to go, what to see, and what to avoid.

Good luck to all those planning trips of your own!

I see you are from West sussex which is also my home county which proves that despite great distances it's a small world!

My deepest sympathies as well for your loss -- road trips can be life enhancing and I hope you are able to take many more in the months and years to come.

Default I'm glad you enjoyed your trip to the US

It looks like you had a great time. Welcome to the Roadtrip America forums.

We don't generally allow new members to post links to other websites so I deleted the link to your blog.

I encourage you to post the highlights of your trip here and share any other travel insights you have in this forum so people can ask you questions and make comments. That way the information is helpful in a shorter, summary format for people who don't wish to read the whole blog.

I'm sorry about your loss and hope that this trip was a healing event for you.

To help you get started, what was the single best highlight of your trip? And what surprised you the most?
