Across America from NY State to Monterey, California in late Spring

Hello. I drove from Albany, NY to Monterey, California, starting May 22, 2008, via Route I-70 West most of the way. I made the trip alone, had no hotel reservations ahead, as I wanted to spend the time on MY schedule. I never had a problem getting a hotel room (mostly Days Inns, Holiday Inns, Comfort Inns and a few others). I had absolutely no problems on my way, and would highly recommend people NOT be apprehensive about making the trip. America is truly incredibly beautiful and just make sure you keep in touch along the way with your family or friends, take new maps,keep your cell phone charged, know your route, keep track of the weather. It was SUCH an awesome experience, one I will always remember. I plan to reverse the trip in a year or so, taking a different route. BE prepared, be in off unfamiliar roads before dark and pay attention. ENJOY THE TRIP!!!
