  1. Default Phoenix to Las Vegas

We are planning a road trip flying into Phoenix, and flying out of Las Vegas 6 days later. We want to spend at least 1 day at the Grand Canyon. We would appreciate any recommendations along the way of must see sights, accomodations, and restaurants. We are traveling with my parents, they are in good health but do not hike. Any specific tour companies recommended of the Grand Canyon? We do not plan on spending any time in Las Vegas other than to fly home.

Default Some of the Best of Arizona

Welcome aboard the RoadTrip America Forums!

As I have pointed out here before, there is so much more to northern Arizona than the Grand Canyon that I am glad you will be taking the time to show your parents around. And while there is some overlap, here's another list of similar resources. I don't know that you need a tour company for the Grand Canyon, there is a highway along the south rim with many turn offs to view the Canyon from different perspectives. There is also a good trail west from the main visitor center that you can walk for as long (or short) as you like. The visitor center offers all the information you could want on the Canyon and you can tour it at your own pace and without a guide. If you want to do an overflight of the Canyon, those are available from the small airport just south of the National Park in Tusayan.

Thanks for the info. I think we will try to see Grand Canyon, Canyon de Chelly, Jerome and Sedona in our 6 days. Is that reasonable? I was looking into the Pink Jeep tours but maybe we should save our money....

One of the RTA correspondents, Robert Spurlock, is an experienced guide with Pink Jeep Tours, and I would recommend him, if you decide to do that. He is in the Las Vegas office.
