Border Crossing Requirements

Hi Guys...This seems to be a great forum for travellers wanting to drive to US by road and have questions on their mind. Being a newbie, and a relativily new immigrant to Canada (2 years and 9 Months old) from India, I wanted to know if I can drive and cross through the Niagra Border to Buffalo and if :

(a) I and my family members all hold Permanent Resident Cards
(b) We have property (a house) in Ontario which we recently bought
(c) I have a valid Ontario driving license
(d) I and my family members all have valid Indian passports
(e) There is no current or pending Criminal Case against me or any of my family members in any Indian, US or Canadian Court of Law
(f) I alone have previously visited US twice (1989 and 1990) on a valid Visa and have returned within the given stay period

Please advise

I think you would probably be ok, but I'm not absolutely sure. If you would typically be required to have a visa as a citizen of India, I suspect you may be required to get a visa before crossing. I'm not sure if being a PR of Canada will make a difference since you are still traveling under an India passport. At the very least, I would think having PR status in Canada would make it easier to get a tourist visa if one is needed.

I think the best thing to do in this situation is to contact the US embassy/consulate and find out what the requirements are for someone in your situation. Its really the only way you'll be 100% sure that you have the proper documents to cross the border.
