Denver to NY or Seattle?

Hi Guys

I'm new here so hello all. Me and a friend are working out in CO Springs for a couple of days (we're from the UK) and then have the rest of the week to ourselves so we thought me might hit the road- but the question is which way east or west :) NY does appeal but I have a couple of friends who say that late July/Early August is not the best time to visit and that the journey is through some uninspiring terrain (sorry to any folks who live in the 'uninspiring terrain'). On the other hand I have heard Seattle is a really nice place to visit and the scenery on the way would be superb. Although this route is shorter we are not that bothered about how long it takes more about the journey than the destination I guess so any advice or experiences with either route greatly appreciated!

You're asking a question that no one can possibly answer for you. There are many great things about both possibilities.

Going to Seattle could take you to some of the greatest natural attractions of the American West.

Going to New York would allow you to see some of the most interesting cities in the US, and would take you through the farmlands and prairies that that formed the backbone of America's expansion.

There are a million great things about both routes, but ultimately, its totally going to depend upon what kind of trip you want to take.

Yeah I know what I'm asking is akin to chicken or fish and is pretty tough one to answer and it is down to us to decide- just wondered what people's experiences of going both ways were- and if you only had one trip...it is a tough call but whichever way we decide I can't wait to do it should be great fun! I have looked around the forum and just wondered about acomodation. I'm guessing there are plenty of motels/camp sites along both routes probably wont book ahead (altough in the parks etc I guess booking ahead might be a good idea) as we dont know how many miles we may cover per day...just see what comes along.

I just got back from a 17 day roadtrip from Pennsylvania to Califorinia (then back to PA). My recommendation is to visit the west, we didnt hit up Seattle, but I hear its beautiful. The east coast is pretty, but with the time you have I would drive a shorter distance and spend more time to chill.

While in Colorado go to Buena Vista - beautiful mountains/hiking and amazing whitewater rafting (Noah's Ark is the way to go). I loved Cali - Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, etc. Take your time and have fun.

If you want to save money on hotels booking ahead is the way to go. We stayed with friends most of the way, but if you want check hotels try Econo Lodge/Rodeway Inn ($40-$60 per night).
