Need Disneyworld restaurant recomendations.

We booked a week in the Disneyworld Ft. Wilderness campground this July (part of our planned one hot lap around the USA), and booked the meal package for approx $475 more. A bargain if you've ever spent a few days in a Disney park.

It includes the sit down restaurants throughout the entire Disneyworld Theme parks. The Disney girl recomended making dinner reservations now.
Any tips and tales of good places to eat and with entertainment within Disneyworld we should book?

We have two kids with us.

P.S: BTW, Anyone ever visit the Adventurers Club on Pleasure Island?

If you go to the Grand Floridian Resort -- go ahead and book priority seating and request a seat by the window. It provides a great view of the fireworks in the night sky over the Magic Kingdom. The salmon is supposed to be quite good at Artist's Point in the Wilderness resort -- beyond that -- It has been a very, very long time since I was there.

There is, however, a guide book written by a colleague that is excellent and can provide current insider tips. Here is my review about Orlando Chow.

I just got back from Disney and we ate at the restaurant inside the Wilderness Lodge called the Whispering Canyon Cafe. It was great fun for the kids. Very interactive and the wait staff were great.

The other restaurant we tried to get into but couldn't was Ohana's at the Polynesian Resort. It was very highly recommended by friends who also have kids. We waited too long though and it was booked up.

Make your reservations as early as you can.

I went there about 9 years ago and I remember there was this restaurant that was modeled after a drive in theatre. I think it was called the Sci-Fi Drive In? Anyway, you sit in a booth that looks like a car, and on one wall there is a large screen that plays old Disney cartoons and television shows. The entire inside of the restaurant is made to give a 60s drive-in feel. The food is American through and through, with burgers, hotdogs, and milkshakes dominating the menu. I was about 10 years old at the time and I remember thinking it was the coolest thing ever, so your kids should probably get a kick out of it too. I highly recommend it.

If you're looking for interesting new fare you might not have tried before, I highly recommend Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Buffet-style, but you'll have the opportunity to try some amazing food styled from all corners of Africa.

The desserts there, I should also note, are incredible.

Our funnest meal was at Mom's. I'm not sure if that was the name but it was something like Mom's Diner. If it's still there, I'm sure you'll be able to find info on it. It was a hoot. Mom (the waitress) will lecture you on your manners and food choices. Mom is hysterical. It was like having dinner with Lucy.

We went to the Adventurer's Club for awhile. It looked pretty cool but it was really crowded and we were too zonked to stay there long to check it out more. I would recommend giving it a try.

We did the Sci-fi Drive-In, too. I agree with Brunch. It was a hoot.

We also enjoyed a nice luau-style dinner at, I believe, The Polynesian(?). I've been to a few luaus in Hawaii. It was every bit as nice and the entertainment was great. I did miss actually being on a beach though. But still worth it, imho.

We had intended to go to a wild west style dinner with a cowboy dinner show. I think it was at Wilderness Resort. It was supposed to be a real good time per reviews of friends who went. But we waited too long to get reservations for that.

We'll be on the American road this June 16th thru late July:
Carlsbad Caverns, Durango and Silverton RR, Grand Canyon, Civil War Country, Vermont, and a lot of places in-between,, DizWorld at Camp Ft Wilderness with our 32 ft trailer and our GMC 4X4 Crewcab.

If you want an amazing place to watch the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom book a dinner reservation at the California Grill for 7 - 7:30 PM... right around dessert you can take a "break" to go out onto the balcony and watch "wishes", the Magic Kingdom's awesome fireworks display. Keep an eye out for Tinkerbell!! :) Note that this is one of the priceyer restaurants at Disney... and is in the Contemporary Resort.
