Default Two Moments in time from Bravo Base

Two vastly different views: Both from LAC FD Helio Base in the Santa Monica mountains:

January 7th during the Palisades Fire

March 25th -- A beautiful spring day with views of snow-capped mountains to the east.

    Default Back at the dam

Quite an amazing sum of dirt and rock has been removed thus far.

This was taken on January 29th and before the rains came it was about 50 feet deeper!

    Default Digging continues

Work continues -- Looks like they are making the water drain-off channel a bit deeper now.

    Default Upstream view

Pivoted the camera to show the entire upstream area this morning.

This could be the first Sunday (not raining) where the crew wasn't engaged on this site this year!

    Lots of activity today!

Notice the red dump truck. It is getting loaded above and then heading up the ramp in the photo below:

Default And deeper and deeper they go

The surface of the dirt is now down about 20 feet from where they started digging.

Lots activity today and you can see the level dropping

And the amount of dirt removed, thus far, from Bailey Canyon is impressive.

    Default A mountain of dirt.

Yeah that's a lot of dirt moved. I wonder where they are dumping it, perhaps a new mountain will be named!

    Default Still going down

Going a foot or so deeper this week

April 24th at 9:45 am PDT (Sierra Madre Canyon, above the dam in Sierra Madre)

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is the one I find the most amazing. The mud and water level used to be right near the top of the center drain. In fact, muddy water was flowing over the spillway to the right for awhile.

April 24th at 9:47 am PDT (Bailey Canyon Debris Basin)

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Both piles continue to drop:
