I shall be a complete RV novice and to be frank quite apprehensive.

Here's a checklist of the kinds of things to look at when you pick-up your RV rental. It was compiled by a fellow roadtripper with about 30+ RV rentals over the last decade or so.

That's Photobucket's way to push you into paying for a premium plan in order to be able to hotlink images.

As George said it's Photobucket's way of making you pay a premium. It was a free service when the trip report was first done with no watermark or blurred images and then they basically said pay up or we blur them. I had already started to update the photos in this thread and then got distracted. This is a reminder to get on and do the rest of them !! (So yes I can retrieve them)

Indeed it is! I was inspired by it at the time as you may see if you read through (!) and I am planning to finally take a similar trip this summer having spent the last decade off the road bringing up kids. Can't wait to hit the road so thanks for the inspiration, Dave!
