Good point, these are the kind of things I forget on these sort of journeys. It's a Friday - would that make it really bad?

I-95 shouldn't be too bad until you get close to Miami. When you do, all bets are off. Be mindful of all the toll roads in Florida, all of them near Miami are cashless, this can get quite expensive in a rental vehicle with or without a transponder.

Can you buy your own Sun Pass and use it in a rental? I really don’t know. This is right about tolls around Miami. Two years ago we tried to avoid them around Miami and did but ended up in some weird places. Last year I checked and discovered the Sun Pass was only $5.00 at the local Publix grocery store so got one. Money has to be on the account, $10 minimum I think (don’t know how this would work for a foreigner) but it was cheaper to use than not have and be charged.

I've found this website that lends you one for free - you just pay the tolls https://visitortollpass.com/. Has anyone had any experience with this?

If the traffic won't be too bad, I'll maybe just do the drive in one go.

I hadn’t heard of that but what a good idea, however it looks like it’s only available at the Orlando airport.

I believe that it's currently a trial which is why it's only at Orlando (which luckily I'm flying to). Hopefully it'll be come widely available after the trial period
