Cross Country PCS in Jan (SC-AZ)

Hi all!
The Air Force is sending us to Glendale,(Phoenix area) Arizona this coming January. We're currently in Charleston, SC. So far I've plotted these stops.
Day 1 Charleston-Bremen, GA(in laws)
Day 2 Bremen-Vicksburg, Mississippi
Day 3 Vicksburg-Dallas, TX
Day 4 Dallas-Odessa, TX
Day 5 Odessa- Deming, NM
Day 6 Deming-Glendale, AZ
(All via I-20 & I-10)

We're trying to keep the days relatively short as we have 2 kids (7 yr old daughter and 2 yr old son), and we'd like to stop along the way to stretch our legs/ sightsee/ let the kids have some fun. We'd also love to take some scenic routes along the way if they don't add a whole lot of time to our trip. Any "must see attractions" and photo ops y'all would recommend? Thanks!

Welcome to RTA!

First thing that jumps out at me -- Vicksburg was a major battle in the Civil War. It takes a couple of hours to tour through the site. Another thing is Saguaro National Park in Tucson. It is full of the saguaro cacti! The park has two sections. I believe the east side is the old growth cacti, and the west side is the forested section. Even if I have them reversed, it's a great stop. Also near Tucson are Davis-Monthan AFB with its boneyard of old aircraft, and the Pima Air Museum.

The good news -- it's about 2-3 hours from Tucson to Glendale. :-) So if you don't have time to do the Tucson stuff, this would make a great weekend trip sometime.
