    Default One Gaping Gap

Welcome aboard the RoadTrip America forum.

It's not a topic that comes up very often on these forums, but its you might want to read over this thread which at least relates the experiences of a few people who have driven around South America. One serious problem that you'll have to address is that the Darién Gap has still not been closed, so you'll have to find some way to get you and your bike from Panama to Columbia. In any event, you're certainly in for a world class adventure!

Hi Alejandro- here's some really good links that that are specific to your bike and your trip.

The main forum for your bike is the AdvRider.com site which is one of the largest motorcycle forums in the world (the GS is the best selling bike in Europe!), if you do a search for your key words, you'll be inundated with travelogues, photos and great information. Plus great place to network with other riders that may have done this trip before.

Lot of books on this topic also. There you might try Whitehorsepress.com which is a publisher that specializes in motorcycle travel books.

And the lost twin sister of the RTA Forum is horizonsunlimited.com site- which is specific to motorcycle world travelers. Tons of info on border crossings, riding different continents, trip planning, and of course tons of stories and travelogues!

Maybe one more that is mildly related is the ldrider.com site, which is a motorcycle site that's specific to Long Distance Travel on a motorcycle. A total 'sub-set' of motorcyclists, might have some really good info, like packing the bike, what to bring, that sort of thing.

Nov '06? You have 2 days!! Have fun!! Take lots of pics! And keep a journal! The last 10,000 mile journey I did on a bike, ended up writing a book about it! :)

  5. Default travel to south america

We are currently on the way to Argentina. We started in Alaska and presently are still in USA (las Vegas). We should ship the vehicle ( VW Syncro) to South America"s north coast. The plan is to visit all the countries there ,plus going to the highest peak-Aconcagua. It will be just fantastic if we can hook up with like minded (and oriented) people to travel. My contact information is: facebook- Syncrotravel,

Your email address was removed from your post per forum policy, so please don't take it personally. Still and all, you've piqued my curiosity. You're driving to Tierra del Fuego, and you've actually done it before? That's seriously awesome!

If your intent is to find riders, please note that this forum has a "Share the Gas" section where you can specify your plans and your needs. If, however, you're looking for like-minded Road Trippers to form a mini-convoy? You need to start a whole new thread, and you need to come right out and say that. A lot of people read these forums. You might just get some takers.

I traveled that route once myself--but it was 45 years ago, and I hitch-hiked most of the way. Different times, different circumstances, but oh, the memories!

    Default Four years later?

Has that vehicle and camper being sitting in Ushuaia all these years? If you are still interested in someone buying it, then I think a little (or a lot) more information on its condition might give you a better chance of finding a taker.
