You do not need to spend any specified time anywhere. That is completely up to you. I have only ever spent two nights and one day in SF (though I have spent more time around silicon valley). Got there before dinner time, went out to dinner, rode the cable car and went to Alcatraz. Next day I spent around the city, the bridge, the waterfront, Loeman St, etc. Just depends on how much time you want to spend at various places and how much you want to see. For me, the quicker I can get out of a city, the better.

Whether you "need" to spend 2.5 days in any city depends a lot on you. My husband and I aren't city people, so when we travel, we tend to avoid cities unless there's a good reason.

San Francisco - things to see include Alcatraz Island (former prison), the cable cars (over-rated, IMHO), Lombard Street (the crooked-est street in the city), Fisherman's Wharf, and maybe Golden Gate Park and definitely, Golden Gate Bridge. If you're a Disney fan, there is a major Disney museum in Golden Gate Park. We spent one day doing Fisherman's Wharf, Chinatown, the cable cars (and the cable car museum, which WAS interesting), and riding BART to/from the city since we were staying in Walnut Creek. If we were to go again, we'd spend one day in Golden Gate Park. Period.

I would consider spending the best part of an extra day at Yosemite to start. You could head north of SF towards Napa and enter SF over the Golden Gate bridge. Muir woods, Point Reyes National seashore and the Marin Headlands are just a few wonderful places. Great views of the bridge, City and Alcatraz can be seen from Conzelman road on Marin headlands, fog permitting !! There are Redwood parks south of SF, Big Basin and Henry Cowell to name a couple. There is lots more if you want to fill your time differently so it's best to look at the maps and do a little research to see what appeals.

Hello again, in LA now, just a quick question, you may never faced that but perhaps someone else asked for that earlier, just done my first groceries shopping and tried to pay with USD debit card I got from bank in Poland, no luck, is says pin not recognozed, when I rang bank they said ther is no records about any usage so they think card terminal did not even connect to the bank, any ideas please? I will also try to use it in different places to see if it was just an unlucky one.

Is the debit card have a Visa or Mastercard logo? If so, try running the card as a credit card.

If not, then I'd guess the card isn't part of a network that the store accepted, and you'll probably have to use an ATM to access the money from that account.

It is VISA, just checked it in few ATMs and all say 'card not recognized' my bank is closed now until next day there. Any ideas on that, shall I try to call visa center or its bad idea?

As it's a new card, did you activate it before use as you normally have to ? A little confused by the fact that your location is Harwich UK and the card you got is from a bank in Poland. You should call the VISA centre to be honest.

It was first attempt to use it in a shop but I have paid with it already online. It was already activated so I can use it in US, all was confirmed that now it is good to go. I am aware about most methods and requirements regarding using cards. Live in UK but orginly from Poland so can also have bank account there. Just wonder if they actually gave me a card that for some reason is not acceptable in US but it is typical debit card for current account in USD I think they should compensate me for that a bit. They sell product that is useless and doesnt do what thay said it will. Alter holiday I wont need USD anymore and will lose money changing it back to PLN. Not happy with this at all....

Most annoying ! You will need to contact visa and/or bank again and update them with your further failed attempts to use it and seek advice. Good luck and enjoy your trip.
