  1. Default San Fran - Yosemite - mono lake - Death Valley march 2016

I am looking to take a road trip from San Fan to Yosemite then possibly on to Mono Lake then to death valley. Reading the posts it looks like the Tioga pass is going to be closed. Will the fact that this is not open make our journey too long and are we better missing out mono lake and by doing so will it reduced the travelling time to death valley. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what we should do. we are visiting from England and going to a wedding in Santa Barbara otherwise we would have done this trip in the summer months.

    Thanking you

    Welcome to RTA!

How long do you have for the journey? Yes, Tioga's closure means you'll have to go through the mountains somewhere else - either up north of Yosemite (closer to Lake Tahoe), or by going south - which does mean a longer journey.

As Donna mentioned, we would need to know how much time you have available. To include Mono Lake it would be quicker to go around the north of the mountains, but if you decide to drop Mono Lake from your plan, then going south via Bakersfield will actually be the quicker journey.
