  1. Default Bay Area to Wisconsin in early October!

Hi all! Newbie here. I'm moving from the SF Bay Area to Wisconsin next week and planning to take 80 most of the way (with side stops in Tahoe and Denver.) Anyone got any tips or things I should know (particularly going up to Tahoe; it's been years since I've gone up that way and my memory of what the road/elevation is like is pretty spotty. Also, it doesn't seem like this early we need to worry about snow or freezing temps, but I could be wrong!)

    To be specific:
Day 1: Oakland to Tahoe (North shore)
    Day 2: Tahoe to SLC
    Day 3: SLC to Denver
Day 4: Denver to Lincoln, NE
Day 5: Lincoln to Madison, WI

    Thanks!

    Welcome to the RTA Forum!

The plan you've come up with is certainly reasonable. It would be pretty unlikely to see any significant weather issues this early in the fall, but it's certainly not impossible. Keep an eye on the forecasts, but don't loose any sleep over it.

Denver is a pretty noteworthy detour, and you really won't have much time at all to spend there. There are no shortage of small towns in Eastern Wyoming on I-80 that could provide a good place to spend the night, if Denver isn't a top priority.
