  1. Default Jacksonville, Fl to Whitefish, Montana

Planning a trip from Jacksonville Florida to Whitefish Montana the last part of June. Only have a week or so but will be traveling with a dog. Love visiting National Parks, but since they don't allow dogs on the trails, I thought I'd try more state parks. Want to go through Boulder Colorado to visit a cousin, but other than that, I open to suggestions. I know I should take more than a week, but that's all I have available at this time. I'll be staying in Montana for about a month.

    Default Five Days - Plus

Welcome aboard the RoadTrip America Forums!

You'll need a minimum of five full days worth of driving. Going through Boulder does not materially alter that. So you've basically got the equivalent of two days to spend with your cousin in Boulder and in shorter stops spread out over the rest of your trip. That's actually not a bad recipe for a RoadTrip that's more meant to get somewhere rather than to see sights along the way. Your basic route is I-75 to Chattanooga; I-24/I-57/I-64 through Tennessee, Kentucky and Illinois to St. Louis; I-70 to Denver and US-34 to Boulder; I-25/I-90 through Missoula; and US-93 to Whitefish. To give you just an idea of the wealth of places available for quick stops where you can go "walkies" have a look at these lists.

I think you made a typo, Buck - US-36 to Boulder, not US-34.

Boulder back to I-25 uses CO-119 unless you want to take the toll road.
