scenic routes from Las Vegas to Park City, Utah???

Taking a family road trip from Las Vegas to Park City, Utah in December. Any advice ? Never driven in snow? Do i need chains on my tires? Bringing my kids for fun in the snow away from the desert lol. How is the drive? I heard is it very pretty but have no info? Any information with be great Where to stop? Traveling with little kids so will need to stop for bathrooms and food but want to make as best time as possible thanks

LV to Park City is an easy one day drive via I-15 and US-189/US-40. Following that route I doubt you would need chains. Unless the roads are bad, expect about 7 hours, which gives you plenty of time to make frequent rest stops and let the kids out to run around for a bit.

There will be rest areas on the Interstate with bathrooms and there will be food available at exits along with gas and bathrooms.

We love the drive along I-15, from about Virgin River Gorge north. There are a couple of places to pull over along the Gorge, but the restrooms either don't exist at all or are pit toilets in the BLM area. The Virgin River Gorge, BTW, is in the NW corner of Arizona, which I-15 crosses (30 miles).

Between St George and Cedar City, the route is very pretty! It is a gradual climb in elevation. At Cove Fort (near intersection of I-15 and I-70), there is a small museum. If you have time, you could take I-70 to Salina, where you catch UT-28 north to Nephi. Another pretty ride! Along I-70 is the Fremont Indian State Park , which our daughters enjoyed when they were around 10 or 11 years old.

I have a friend, a former teaching colleague, who now lives in Park City. She loves it!
