Help in planning please

Hello new here so thanks in advance! We are traveling from n. CA to Uniontown PA in RV with kids want to go I 80 to Denver and then take the more scenic I 70 into Uniontown PA. we have 5.5 days to get there. Does this sound like a viable path to take seems there are plenty of RV Parks along the way any suggestions as to good ones to use or avoid? Any special sites we should definitely see?

Are you sure 5.5 days is all you have? In a RV, that's going to have you driving pretty much all day every day with no real chances to do any sightseeing. You might as well drive a car and stay in motels.

The best way to get from I-80 to I-70 is at Lincoln, NE take NE-2 to I-29 to Kansas City.

Another way, which is a lot more scenic, is at Fernley, NV, take Alt-50 to US-50 (The Loneliest Road) to I-70 at Salina, UT. Note that this way is very sparsely populated and services are few and far between.

thanks much we leave CA on a Thursday and need to be in PA on Tuesday late afternoon so really six days so I figure we will average about 500 miles a day give or take a hundred ha I know its a lot but two if us driving

Just so you know, the section of I-70 that is famous for being scenic is the part of the highway west of Denver. East of Denver, I-80 and I-70 are fairly similar. The route GLC mentioned might be a better choice for you.

500 miles is pretty much a full day on the road all by itself in an RV with a family. It's certainly doable, but your extra stops will all have to be pretty short and close to the highway.

I would also say that it will be tougher on the kids covering 500 miles a day then it will the drivers. One long day on the road, maybe 2, but 5-6 days, one after the other is a real test. You don't say how old they are but letting them have some time to let off steam is important. They have to be belted in when travelling and the back of an RV does not offer the most comfortable of seating over long periods. An RV is going to be slower and more expensive than a car and Motel room by the time you add up campground fees, fuel and rental costs, unless of course you own it and rental doesn't come into it.

With that in mind, and to get a feel for what it is like to have to sit belted up in the back, you might like to consider having the children take turns in the front passenger seat, and the adults taking turns at driving. Give the kids a break and the adults some experience of what it is like stuck in and belted up in the back.
