Turquoise loop?

I just heard about this, and had to ask...where can I find out more about this route, and is it a good scenic route to get to Carlsbad Caverns? I would like to avoid interstates, as much as possible.

The Turquoise Trail (not Loop) is a scenic byway between Santa Fe and Albuquerque NM. Whether that works for you on a trip to Carlsbad will depend on where you're coming from. You can find a RoadTrip Report on it here.
