Default Need help planning Rv trip Texas to Cali....

I am on short notice, lol as always with kids!
We are planning a rv trip from Amarillo to San Diego in July. 3- kids 12, 10, 8...
We did this a couple years ago and added two teenagers to the mix. It was the best vacation ever!!!
So here we are doing it again the only problem we don't want to back track. Any ideas would be awesome!

    Welcome to RTA!

Simplest thing not to backtrack would be to plan a loop.

I-40 across to Barstow where you pick up I-15. That drops you into San Diego. Return via I-8 to I-10 to I-20 and up to Amarillo via a route (whose number I can't remember).

That's just one idea, however. How long do you have and what did you plan to do?

On the way back, instead of taking I-10 and I-20 across West Texas, you could pick up US-70 in Las Cruces, visit White Sands, and then go to Roswell to look for aliens. From there you can take US-70 to Clovis then US-60 back to Amarillo.
