Lighthouse Road Trip from Newport News, VA to Cedar Island, NC

Hey folks...New to this board, but have been trying to map out the best (and most coastal) route along the mid atlantic to see the lighthouses from Newport News, VA to Cedar Island, VA...Can't seem to get the Map Tool to allow me to pick the lighthouse locations and change the initial route...Anyone out there made a similar road trip? Leaving in three days!

The full service Map Center should allow you to pick up to 8 waypoints. If you need more than 8, you will need to create multiple trips or use Google Maps.

Any software mapping application is going to have limitations as well as its own built in preferences which may (or more likely) may not match your own. That is why you will often see a stated 'prejudice' here for paper maps where you get to make all the decisions, the power and/or connection to the net can't fail, you have an instant hardcopy, and (as long as you do your work in pencil) lets you make unlimited changes. Although the days of free maps from your friendly local service station are over (as are the days of a friendly local service station) you can still get excellent paper maps from most state highway departments or tourist boards. Just poke around a bit on the web.
