Camping in Asia

Has anyone tried camping anywhere in Asia? I've been musing about this idea for sometime, and I'd really appreciate your suggestions and any things to remember while camping there.

I've done some camping outside of the US, but never Asia. However, you are talking about the biggest continent on the planet, and I'm sure your options and the customs would be dramatically different depending upon the specific regions you are looking at. So what are you thinking: Middle east, India, China, SE Asia, Siberia, etc?

If I recall, Lonely Planet and some of the other budget minded guidebooks typically include information about camping customs and possibilities.
