    Default This is the coolest Memorial Day weekend I can remember!

    Wild about the open/closings of the Glacier Point road. It's actually been chilly this weekend in Las Vegas and usually it's closer to 115 degrees by this weekend.

  2. Default Our guesses

    Tioga Pass road opening -- my vote is June 17th at noon. My husband votes for June 24th at 10 am.

    Default They're through !

    The Tioga pass has been part plowed across it's entire lenght. Olmsted is still an avalanche threat at this stage. Now the crews have to clear the entire width of the road, pull outs and side roads and clear debris/rock fall.

    For any keen cyclists out there the road is open from Crane flat to Yosemite creek bridge !

    A great shot of the crews from the Yosemite Web page.

    So CAnative's husband might want to pick another date since I already have June 24th?

    ;)

  5. Default Revised predictions

    Ok -- I put in our guesses and best of luck to those who have those dates. I quickly went through the posts, think the following two dates are available, and consulted my husband. Official predictions -- June 18th at 10 am for me and June 23rd at noon for my husband.

    Reservations made for Tuolumne Meadows in September -- road will surely be open by then :)

    Default Good chance for more snow on Sunday night

    An unusual early summer rainstorm is moving across northern California. Temperatures are expected to drop late Sunday and the prospect of 4-6 inches of fresh snow is looking high for the Tioga Pass area....

    [continue rant} you know (with all respect to the fine folk north of the CA state line) if I'm going to end up living in Oregon, I shouldn't have to pay California housing prices {end rant}

    Default Even Weirder....

    I wore a jacket the other night -- here in Las Vegas. Normally by the 3rd of June we can count on it being 110 degrees F. at midnight! Plus, this is the windiest year in the last 12 for us. Current temperature at my office is a very pleasant -- almost cool -- 93 degrees F.
