San Francisco to Los Angeles (vice versa) via Pacific Coast Highway HELP!

Really starting to get nervous/excited for this trip.

The game plan is, about 10am, pick up rental from LAX and drive along the PCH to Cambria. Sleep. Go to Hearst Castle in the morning, drive along the PCH to Pacifica, cut across to SFO, drop off the car, and shuttle in to town around bed time.

Exhausting.

Andy, you may have to modify your plans. The PCH just collapsed between Big Sur and Carmel and is closed "indefinitely". After Hearst Castle, you are going to have to backtrack to Cambria and take CA-46 to US-101 to go north.

You could take the Naciemiento-Fergusson Road over the coastal range through Fort Hunter Liggett, but that road is not for the faint of heart.
