HELP planing trip from New York to hilton head island in need of suggestions

Hello my name is Steve, I'm leaving on friday to head down to south carolina. I have taken this trip a few times now along with planty of other ones. I'm familiar with I95 and tired of driving down this route without stopping to see anything. We don't have much cash but would like to do some sight-seeing to experience different things this time around. Can anyone help?

How many days can you take for this trip?

I have all day friday and need to check into the resort on saturday by 10am.

That is going to make it difficult to do anything but a "speed run" down I-95. The drive is over 800 miles. Sorry.

I'll be leaving around midnight thursday night. It's only a thirteen hour trip, I can make it in ten. that leaves me with 22 hours to do something for the drive down. there has to be something to do along the way.
