Texas is one of the few states that allow RV's to stay in rest area's overnight. We have done this a few times when all the RV parks are full.

That's good information, thanks for sharing. So many states prohibit stays over a certain amount of hours. Some states provide security at rest areas, though most states do not, due to the cost. I'd rather spend the money to go to a motel, campground or RV park for the night, because of the safety in numbers.
