  1. Default From Phoenix to Yosemit on Sept 20

I am going to travel with my husband and my 2 year old daughter from Phoenix, we want to visit the Sequoia park and Yosemite.

I would like to know what is the best place to stay?
also recommendations on the activities to perform in each park?

    We have 4 days.

    Default 4 days total?

    Welcome to the RTA forum!

When you say you have 4 days, are you taking round trip? If so, I think you need to come up with a different destination. At the very least, your looking at doing either Yosemite or Sequoia, but not both, you just don't have the time. It's 700 miles from Phoenix to Yosemite, which really is a day and a half drive when traveling with a small child.

If you have your heart set on Yosemite, then you could do something like drive to Bakersfield the first day, drive to and explore the Yosemite valley on day 2, drive over Tioga pass on day 3 to lone pine, and then head home in day 4. That's doable, but still pretty rushed.

If I were you, I'd really probably look at a destination closer to home, like one of the several great parks in southern Utah so you aren't spending more than half of your trip in the car, especially with a 2 year old.

I would have to agree with Michael. To do Yosemite any kind of justice you need a couple of days there and attempting to drive 700 miles in a single day is unwise and unsafe and if you made it you would be exhausted and miserable on arrival and at a time your young one would of probably had enough sleep and is raring to go !

I just came through Yosemite today from Fresno to Lee Vining after going through Sequoia yesterday and it has been exhausting. Yes, I’ve seen both parks and they are spectacular but no, I didn’t see everything much less do either of them justice. I can’t imagine doing it from Phoenix. We only have to drive to Las Vegas tomorrow and that’s enough!

Sounds exhausting really, that would hard for the 2 years old I think.

I would never do the trip I just did with children of any age. There would be a rebellion and probably be the parents. I’m writing my trip report now with the pros and cons.
