It looks like the Tioga Pass has been reopened, the CalTrans web page no longer lists the winter closure.

    Default Wrong road John.

The Tioga Pass is still closed other than a section opened for cyclists this weekend.

The road you have linked to is CA140 John which enters Yosemite from the south and is open year round. Tioga road crosses the mountains east to west [and back] in the park from Crane Flat to the east entry station and is a section of CA120.

Damn how could I have got that wrong?! Not enough coffee this morning, that's my excuse...

    Apologies for causing any confusion.

Been watching this thread for few months now ... just to see some guesses if the Tioga Pass would be open at May 2nd ... and it seems that it just might be possible as Sonora Pass just opened too.

Travelling from Finland to LA -> Monterey -> Yosemite -> Death Valley -> Vegas. We had quite poor snow winter in Finland and Sierra Nevada seems to be suffering from the same thing.

    Default Fingers crossed.

Hi Niko and welcome to RTA !

You never know for sure, a late storm could hold things up but it does look promising at the moment. Have a great trip and if you have any questions you are welcome to start your own thread.

I was about to guess the 10th, but it appears Utahtea has also claimed that date.

So we'll say it holds out for one extra week, and go May 17, 9am.

    Default Good spot.

Thanks Michael, I missed Utah's other date and have updated the previous post accordingly. [ I saved myself from possible embarrasment with that 'get out of jail' disclaimer card !]
