    Default those dang mountains

    Welcome to the RTA Forum!

I moved your thread to the "Share the Gas" section, where its more likely you'll find another traveler.

You've also got a very major (although fairly common) problem with your route. It doesn't take into account the Sierra Nevada mountains and the limited opportunities to drive across the mountain range.

Specifically, there is no way you can drive from Vegas to Kings Canyon in 260 miles - there's just no way to do it without a helicopter! Sequoia and Kings Canyon can only be reached from the West side of the Sierras, which means you have to drive around via the Bakersfield area. That means by the shortest possible route, you're looking at 400+ miles of driving. Note, adding in Death Valley, would also mean even more miles, and trying to do both in one day really isn't possible without a real brutal day on the road.

From there, the Yosemite Valley is on the west side of the Sierras, but Mono Lake is on the east side so again, that's not an area where you easily do the two things together.

You might consider doing Death Valley then Yosemite (crossing the scenic Tioga Pass) and then backtracking to Sequoia/Kings.

Aww man! What a pity! I was looking for a ride from Vegas to Grand Canyon on 11 May.
