Default New England Coast Road Trip

    Hi!
Just to add this in...last year, my best friend and I went on a 5 week, 10,700-mile road trip across the US (pretty much a gigantic [but awkward] circle). It was the best time I have ever experienced! I would do it again in an instant...

Anyway, I have been wanting to do another road trip since- but a shorter and less expensive one. We did not do New England on our great road trip, so I have been pondering one up to Portland, Maine. This time, I am going for slightly different reasons. One of which, being a photographer, I want to make this a 'project' trip. So, I thought of an idea to invite a few of my friends that are either photographers and/or film makers and make it sort of a collaboration trip. We would all have different perspectives on what we see and how we portray it. In the end, we could put all of our work together- both motion photos and stills.

With all that being said, I am unsure if anyone is willing to come along/can afford it. So, if that falls through, I decided on a solo trip! I have driven pretty far (up to 8 hours) by myself but mainly just to get from point A to point B. But I will say that I have never driven far by myself, for the sole purpose of a "road trip"- if that makes any sense, haha.

Blah blah blah...okay so, I am planning on taking 10 days for this trip (much more doable than another 5 week-er!). My stops are as follows:

    (From Pennsylvania)
    Newport, RI
    Nantucket, MA
    Boston, MA
    Salem, MA
    Portland, ME (turning point)

On the way back I just plan on stopping in New Haven, CT.

Also, this trip will be in October. I know how beautiful it is that time of year, and it will be great for photographing my way through New England. Since I am a female in my early twenties, I have some reluctance about doing a solo trip...so I would love some female perspective on this- but, of course, male perspectives are always welcome!

Any advice would be fantastic and greatly appreciated! I am open to all input...as far as where to go, must-sees, places to eat, and (cheaper) places to stay. Thanks so much- hope to read a lot of feedback.

    Mandy

    Welcome!

Your drive legs all look reasonable. However, are you allowing enough time to get back and forth to Nantucket?
