Durango, Bryce and Arches . . . or more?

I am traveling for a week mid-August with my teenagers from Durango to Mesa Verde to Arches to Bryce and then back to Durango. Where is the best place to go out on ATVs or an ATV "safari"? Where is the best rafting and day-hiking? We are going to do the Durango-Silverton Railroad and then we are free agents but we want to have fun and my kids have never been out West.

Has anyone enjoyed the Perseids Meteor Shower in CO/UT?

That's a common mindset around here. We often caution people about trying to squeeze too much into a single trip. I'll be taking my own two grandsons to the Four Corners area for a week long RoadTrip next month and I don't have nearly what you have planned. I do intend to get them some fly fishing and horseback riding time (particular favorites of theirs) but we won't be traveling much outside the Navajo, Hopi and Ute Reservations. A couple of places and activities they may enjoy would be the Dinosaur Museum in Blanding, UT or a native guided tours of Monument Valley and Canyon de Chelly.

ATVs in Utah must be registered, but in return the state offers several excellent trails in state parks across southern Utah. Another extensive area for such activity is the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.
