NYC to Vegas Jan.1

HI, I have to drive from NYC to Las Vegas leaving on the 1st of Jan.
I need to be in Vegas on Jan.3. What would be my best routes for,
1. fastest (if weather is not an issue)
2. if weather is an issue, Southern route where weather is not quite an issue.

Jeffrey, This is likely to be impossible. What time on the 3rd were you hoping to arrive? A solo trip on the holidays with the prospect of bad weather -- Unless you are incredibily lucky -- good weather, dry roads, etc. -- you will not be able to cover this distance in less than four days.

The fastest route is I-80 to I-15. The second fastest route is I-70 to I-15. If both are a problem due to inclement weather --- I-40 will likely also be a mess -- need to figure a minium of four+ days for this route.
