Hi,
I just completed my road trip in the USA.
Now I am making a photo album, and I also want to include maps of where I have drove my car.
Can someone recommend me some good software?
Thanks.

I don't know if it is the best choice, but I think you could easily do this with MS Streets and Trips. And it's not all that expensive. You can get a copy through our link here on RTA. Bob
We are still working on ours, (RTA), but in the interim I would suggest using the services of SmugMug. Excellent photo sharing software and they incorporate mapping services that are among the best of breed for this type of an application.Originally Posted by pietplezier

Nah, smugmug looks nice, but is not where I am looking for.
I am looking for a program, where I can select the roads where I drove...
Thanks for your replies so far. Strange that this kind of app is not 'invented' yet... :/ I guess I have to do it the old fashioned way, with a fat marker and scan my maps :)
Do you have any idea when this future is online here at roadtripamerica.com ?
It sorta works out the same way, the SmugMug program plots the locations of the photos either by known GPS coordinates or by a complex algorithmic program that then plots the route on an overlay highway map.Originally Posted by pietplezier
Virtually every mapping program allows you to plot a route with a marker that is displayed on the map -- Streets and Trips is the one most often used by roadtrippers who frequent this board, but roadtripper "Chuck C" has found a lot of success with Plainglobe.com and one of his maps can be viewed in this thread about a trip around Lake Michigan.
Just be careful with what you do with those scanned maps -- for instance they couldn't be published on a site like RTA or any other reputable publisher because of copyright issues. Thanks for your replies so far. Well, six months ago, I fully expected to be in beta by now -- Now, I am hoping for a beta release in early Summer 2006Do you have any idea when this future is online here at roadtripamerica.com ?

Similar to Smugmug Maps, but much easier to use:
Panoramio.com
Well, since both applications are using the Google Maps platform, that makes sense. Are you a member of Panormio?Originally Posted by emana
