Default Advice on Route from Dallas to Seattle

I'm relocating to Seattle and have decided to drive and see some of the country.
I was thinking of going up through Coloradao, Idaho, Oregon etc, but have no idea of the most enjoyable routes that way.
I was also considering going via the grand canyon then up the californian coastline.

    Any ideas?

  2. Default A third possibility

You could go via Lincoln County, Capitan (NM), Santa Fe, Durango, Monticello (UT), Canyonlands/Arches NP, then across US50 and Nevada (Virginia City is a great stop) to the coast highway at Ft Bragg or thereabouts, then up the coast highway from there. Lots of beautiful scenery and attractions, both natural and historical, along this way. Bob

Bob's route is a great suggestion. Another possibility is to continue north from Arches through Wyoming to see the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone, then through Montana to see Glacier, then across beautiful northern Idaho to eastern WA. In eastern WA, you can either speed across the state via I-90 and see the coulees. Or you can go along the northern part of the state and see Grand Coulee Dam and cross the Cascades via the North Cascades Hwy. This highway closes for the winter so this route may not work for you depending on when you're traveling this way.

Of course, you could do Grand Canyon/Zion/Bryce and then cross over to California and go up the coast.

Or, if time is a factor, you could take the quckest route and, from Arches, go to Salt Lake City-Boise-Pendleton-Richland-Yakima-Ellensburg-Seattle.

  4. Default The problem

You see, that's the problem with this route -- there's so many good possibilties it'll be hard to choose one. Just thinking about it makes me want to hit the road! Bob

Yeah, and I didn't even mention going through NE Nevada and then up through eastern Oregon. Or heading directly north from Texas through the Plains States and then across. Or....or....gosh, I need another roadtrip! LOL

PNW JUDY: if you go "Another possibility is to continue north from Arches through Wyoming to see the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone, then through Montana to see Glacier, then across beautiful northern Idaho to eastern WA." this way, what would is this mostly interstate roads? Is the cell signal pretty good throughout? Also, what would be the route (exact roads) going this way?
Sorry for all the questions! Driving from Dallas to Seattle with my daughter and want to see this part of the country, safely. Thanks!!

    Hi Juliana.

This thread is almost 7 years old and Judy hasn't been around for quite a while. I think you would be better off asking these questions in your thread and saying how long you have for the trip.

    Dave.
