Between San Luis Obispo and Solvang, you'll be in Santa Maria style
barbecue country.
It's been a while since I've eaten there, but the Old Country Deli
in San Luis Obispo has a BBQ grill fired up in their parking lot.
It's on the corner of Marsh and Nipomo.
Get off of 101 at Marsh and drive a couple of blocks east to Nipomo.

There are other well known BBQ restaurants in the area, but the
deli is probably the cheapest.
I recall the Far Western Tavern in Guadalupe made a tasty
tri-tip sandwich. Can't remember the prices though.
You'll be in wine country as well. There are lots of wineries in
the Santa Ynez Valley near Solvang.
If camping is your bag, there are some seaside campgrounds.
Check out Gaviota, Refugio, and El Capitan Beaches, you may need
reservation though.
