Las vegas To Mammoth CA

Has anybody got any information on doing this journey mid Decemeber.
I am a eglishman thinking of popping over to America for a xmas break. i would love to do this drive but i am not sure what exactly it will entail and how i would stand in death valley at this time of year.
Any advise would be much appreciated.

There are a number of routes from Las Vegas to Mammoth, but the two most scenic would be:

LV: NV route 160 to Pahrump, State Line Road to Death Valley Junction, CA-190 to US-395 and north to Mammoth Lakes (This route takes you through Death Valley -- a great time to visit -- You will likely see several hundred other visitors this time of year.

LV: US-95 north to the Lida Junction and the west on NV-266 to US-395 and north to Mammoth. For some more information about the Lida Junction road click here.

Both routes can be driven easily in a day, but the Lida Junction route is probably faster (if the road has not been closed from weather --
