driving las vegas to SFO

I intend to drive (shortest) on 9 July from Las Vegas to San Francisco in 2 days.
Preferable road is via Barkersfield Hwy 58.
Please advise points of interested or alternative road

Be aware that a lot of highway 58 is still 2 lane road. It's a pretty nice trip. You may want to take 58 to highway 5, and then take that north to SFO.

I hope you have a nice trip, but beware that highway 5 is a pretty fast road. In other words, the drivers go 75 & 80 instead of the posted 65 or 70.

I routinely make this run in about eight hours, without exceeding the speed limit. You can certainly take two days, but, if shortened time is important -- one will suffice.

Also, it is possible that "Bob&Cathy" haven't driven on CA SR-58 recently -- it is a mini-freeway with lanes that alternate from 3 to 4 for passing purposes. It is the key truck route between I-15//US-395 and California's central valley -- it is not a slow road.
