    Default Vegas and Flagstaff

We are flying into Vegas from the UK for a small touring break of about 9 days. We want to see the sights of Vegas- probaby 4 days (don't want to get bogged down in the casinos during the day) and need an itinerery. We also thought about going down to Flagstaff for a few days too. Is there enough to do in Flagstaff without having to drive for miles. How long is the drive from Flagstaff back to Vegas. We need to be at the airport by 13.00?

    Default Plenty to do here

It would be easy to spend four complete days in Las Vegas and never step inside a casino during the day. Some of our favorite places are discussed here. Plus, did you know that this is PRIME season for sailplanes in the southwest. We will be doing an article about the sport in a couple of weeks, but a preview is available here

Editor - thanks. What about the mileage from Flagstaff to Vegas. Is there much desert driving between the two. Thanks

  4. Default 250 miles

The drive from Las Vegas to Flagstaff can be done in less than 4 hours, depending on whether traffic is backed up for security and road construction reasons at Hoover Dam (a possibility, although I have been across the dam perhaps 4 times in the past year with no problems).

In Flagstaff, you can walk around the old downtown district, see Lowell Observatory, tour the turn-of-the-20th-Century Riordan Mansion, see the ruins at Walnut Canyon. Not too far away (a few miles up US89) are the ruins at Wupatki and Sunset Crater. And Sedona is about 25 miles south on Highway 89A, reached by driving through beautiful Oak Creek Canyon -- a red rock setting that was "home" to many classic "westerns." Bob
