Grand Canyon ++

Am working on a trip to Grand Canyon in October - will fly into Las Vegas, get the car and head out. Also want to get into Calfornia and hopefully up to UC Davis for a college visit. Is all this possible? How much time should we allow for the south rim. What else should top the "must see list"

October is just about the best time there is for roadtrips. It can get very cool (temperature) at the South Rim in late October. All of the mountain passes into California will still be open in October. Here are some great ideas for trips in the area.
