    Default NC to Portland, OR

    What is the best route to take to avoid the most mountains as possible? What is the quickest route? Any side trip suggestions? We have to be there in 6 days!

    Default No Mountains

    First, for a fewest mountains kind of route, I'd work my way up to I-64, take that to St Louis, then I-70 west to I-29, that north to just south of Omaha and cut the corner of NE over to I-80 at Lincoln (you could use SR2). Take I-80 west but cut the corner of Wyoming as well, avoiding Salt Lake City by taking the two-lane road through Kemmerer and pick up I-84 for the rest of the way to Portland. You cannot avoid hills, but those on this route aren't so bad. Bob
