SoCal to Omaha

When I mapquest this road trip, it say to go up I-15 to Salt Lake City and over on I-80. Just looking at the map, it would seem taking I-70 through Denver would be much faster. Anyone have any base of knowledge to compare these routes? Thanks

Going through Denver will cost you about 40 minutes to an hour, even though the route is 60 miles shorter. That's not significant. The I-70 route is certainly prettier, my opinion. Bob
