Planning to leave the last weeekend of October and was wondering has anybody has any experiences with the proposed route I plan to take. From Seattle, South I-5 at Grants Pass, OR. South 199 to South 101 then South 1 all the way to San Fran. (I wanted to bypass the gorgeous Oregon coastline because I've driven there many times). I am concerned about the weather conditions (snow) during that time. Any recommendations for hotels/restaurants especially on south highway 1. Time will not be a factor. Planning on driving back to to Seattle on I-5 North all the way home...Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

Default Snow is possible, but unlikely

    George,

While snow is always possible in late October, it is pretty unlikely. US-199 has a couple of rough spots (narrow lanes) and plenty of truck traffic, so take it easy in any weather condition.

The best guide we have ever seen for really unique and fun restaurants is the one by <a href = "http://www.roadtripamerica.com/read/California-Highway-1.htm">Lonely Planet<a/>.

One of my favorite inns in the world is in Mendocino -- the <a href = "http://www.roadtripamerica.com/places/stanford.htm">Stanford Inn<a/> on the Big River. I don't suppose that Rockaway, Oregon is far enough for your first stop, but a recent post on the forum described the <a href = "http://www.roadtripamerica.com/roadtripamericaConference/Thread.cfm?CFApp=44&Thread_ID=2862&mc=1">The Beach Stay<a/>.

Hope this starts the process for you.
