CT to CA in 4 days in late December

Hi!

My friend is helping me to move from CT to LA at the end of December.Because of limited time (4 days), we'd like to take the shortest route, but are also concerned with the weather. What would be the most southern route we could take and still make it in 4 days?

Utilizing a southern route will not prevent weather-caused delays. If it were me, I would still use I-70 and watch the weather figuring dropping south if the passes are expecting extra heavy snow.
