Houston to Denver

Anyone have experience driving from Houston to Denver the last week of December? route recommendations. Please advise.

Go up to Fort Worth and take US287 from the Northwest-side all the way to I-70 outside of Denver, I-70 the rest of the way.

This is the route of choice for many heavy truck drivers because you can make excellent time on it, and it would be my first choice.

That said, you must check and re-check the weather, and adjust your route accordingly as necessary. If the weather is no good, you can check out the interstate routes as alternates -- I-10 west to north on I-25 (or a mile-saving variant like US285), or I-35/I-135 north to I-70.
